Comment to this post and use the following format:
Subject: Day [date], [your username], [that day's word count]
Example: Day 1, Cutiesonthehorizon, 134 words
If you forget to report in during that day, no worries, post a comment the next day, just report with the date of the previous day in the subject line.
Please try and use the format mentioned above for the subject line so it'll be easier for us to keep an eye on the word counts. As to the comment itself, feel free to gripe about how hard the words were, or squee about how easily you wrote half a chapter! You can put in your favorite sentence, or add a link to the fic, whatever you feel like:)
To help you all out a bit, April was decided to be the month of AUs/Crossovers! You're of course welcome to create any kind of content, but if you want to get some inspiration, there are few AU/Fic generators:

Most of all, have fun and don't forget to report in:)

Words written: 805
Words for the outline: 1012
I can't really share anything for now, mostly because I've only written boring exposition, but I will try to share a few sentences soon!

Date: 2018-04-01 10:22 pm (UTC)"I'm sorry, for acting like a freak. I can't... can't stop it. Lo siento. I.... I need to go back to class." With that Tomas pulled away and run inside the school. Marcus didn't follow. He stayed standing on the now empty playground, his mind whirling. When he accepted this job, it was just a temporary fix, a favor for one of Peter's old friends. Marcus was supposed to teach Latin, maybe pester some kids to stop bullying the younger ones. He didn't expect to be confronted by his old life... by his calling. Suddenly he remembered the conversation he had with Peter the morning before his first day.
'I think I would rather face a demon than a bunch of hormonal teenagers,' he said to Peter with a smile before leaving. Now his words came to bite him in the ass it seemed. Annoyed and put out, Marcus looked up at the sky.
"Damn you. I didn't mean it literally," he uttered. The only reply he got was the swish of the wind and the sun happily shining down on him.

Date: 2018-04-02 04:03 am (UTC)Tomas Ortega's life is straightforward, as if written in a book, and he likes it that way.
He's never once contemplated the chance that things could change. That his life could grow more interesting, and not necessarily in a way he dislikes.
But it's about to.
Tomas has a friend. She goes by Mouse, and she's taken it upon herself to ensure that he gets a vacation. Not because he's overwhelmed, as he is utterly fine with the route things have gone in his life so far, but because she believes he has grown boring.
"You can resume your graphically horizontal life afterward," Mouse tells him simply as she stuffs the printed ticket into his hands. "But for now, you're going to humor me."

Date: 2018-04-02 08:10 pm (UTC)Here's a bit of a teaser:
As if feeling the gaze, the man lifted his head and looked straight at Peter. Their eyes locked and the man frowned, the pencil in his hand wavering, mouth parting in silent question. Peter swallowed, his throat suddenly dry. It was the man who broke the eye contact first as if in embarrassment. He resumed his drawing but Peter kept watching him and saw the occasional covert glances thrown his way, as if checking he was still there.
"You should be careful about that one," the chaplain sitting next to him warned with a soft smile and Peter startled. He totally forgot he wasn't alone.
"Sorry. What?"
The chaplain chuckled.
"That chap you're eyeing. He's a difficult man. His story is complicated and sad."
Peter wasn't even trying to pretend he didn't know what was going on. Instead he looked back towards the man on the grass, just to catch a quick glance his way and felt a shiver run down his spine.
"Who is he?"
"Father Marcus Keane."

Tomas imagines it's something akin to the face he and Luis made one time when they'd tried banana peppers on a pizza. At least they'd had fun, though. This...Tomas isn't sure what to call it yet.

Date: 2018-04-03 07:43 am (UTC)Been continuing to do research, lately mainly on possible background for Bennett (because his past is so lightly sketched in the show and I'm trying to connect the dots between a kid being taken in by a Cardinal in Punia to the Prefect of Papal Security), and did find the really interesting tidbit that the name Bennett is derived from Saint Benedict, ie the patron saint of exorcists, the same Benedict as in the medal worn by Marcus and the cross used in set decoration throughout the show (I'd noticed it some time ago on the floor of the rooms where the nuns conduct exorcisms in s1, and of Mouse's Antwerp crypt in S2).

Date: 2018-04-03 08:14 pm (UTC)"I really think I'd rather face a demon than a bunch of hormonal teenagers," Marcus sighed. Secretly Peter had to agree with that sentiment, however he wasn't about to voice it.
"I for one feel much better about you facing teenagers than demons. It's... safer."
Marcus snorted.
"You clearly haven't met that many teenagers lately."

The mother had not made it out alive.
She laid in a pool of blood just inside the front door, her arm reaching out so her hand fell just outside the frame. Her eyes were open wide. Fear had gripped her as she died. Her red hair framed her contorted features. She was at peace now or so the priest hoped. There was nothing else he could do now.

Date: 2018-04-04 04:56 am (UTC)“Getting tracers, are you?”
Marcus’ voice sounds better than it did half an hour ago, and when Tomas turns his head to regard the man, he does so slowly, as if taking in the reverberation of the sound in his eardrums. It almost sounds like music in itself, and Tomas finds he likes that.
Marcus’ smile is warm and welcoming, and Tomas stares for perhaps a little too long. He wonders if he himself is smiling, but he’s too wrapped up in the new experience to think too much about it.
“Your eyes are very blue.”

Date: 2018-04-04 09:42 am (UTC)Wondering whether I should post it on its own or paste it and some other bits and pieces together into a loosely thematic set. Or just post it and that other snippet as two separate ficlets.
I'm not keen on lumping all sorts of unrelated stories together like clockhearted-crocodile does, because I don't like navigating through multiple chapters on AO3 to see new stuff. But then I know some people don't like short fic.

Date: 2018-04-05 12:04 am (UTC)With a small amount of money in his pockets and a desire to honor his love of literature, Tomas had managed to open a small independent bookstore in the Wicker Park District of Chicago, a place he had quickly grown to consider home. The cafes and quirky shops surrounding him certainly helped to turn the area into a pleasant one, a place his sister Olivia thoroughly enjoys.
She regularly visits him, more often than not to drop off her son Luis before going to an important meeting, but never without lecturing Tomas about his unkept hair and stubble. With this and those reading glasses of yours, you look like the old and boring university teacher you were destined to be.
The glasses are to protect my eyes, he would reply in a vain attempt to defend himself; but it’s only half of the truth. Tomas rather likes the scruffy look it gives him, in addition of protecting his eyes from the intensive reading with only the dim light of the bookstore to highlight the lines from the latest romance novel he has managed to get an early copy of.

Mouse smiled. She liked seeing him in such good spirits. However, Bennett’s name slightly soured her mood. “Devon Bennett never asks for something unless he expects a particular response. Be careful there, Marcus.”
He came around his desk to meet her as he donned his beaten black leather jacket. He considered her words and the concerned look on her face. It was good advice. “Still have my back in spite of everything?”
This time, the smile was more rueful. “You know I do.”

“You.” His smile had a bit a mirth to it that annoyed Marcus.
“What the hell, Bennett?” He dropped Doctor Ortega’s hand and glared at his fellow man of the cloth as Bennett took his seat behind the desk.
