This entry is for  reporting daily word counts! Every day after you finish writing/creating, please comment with your nickname, the day and the number of words you wrote. See the example below:

If you forget to report in during that day, no worries, post a comment the next day, just report with the date of the previous day in the subject line.

As to the comment itself, feel free to gripe about how hard the words were, or squee about how easily you wrote half a chapter! Yay, a start of a new fic. Only problem is that two sentences that were supposed to set the situation turned into a whole scene... and I am no closer to the fic I was originally planning to write. Hm.

So I, like, TOTALLY underestimated my daily word count for this challenge. lolol I realized earlier today that was probably the case, but this confirms it. I wrote my first scene/prologue and ended up with 5.5 times as many words. But I'm in good company since Leoraine did the same thing! =O)

It's fun writing horror!

Prompt from xoloitzcuintle: why Marcus doesn't like Tomas driving. It doesn't really go anywhere, but it was nice to get started.

I'll probably slap all these up on AO3 after they get a quick proofread, likely at the culmination of the event. Excited to see y'all post your stuff somewhere too!

Or was I supposed to report to the other post? It's kind of confusing because here the link says the other one is for prompts amd cheer-leading, but over there it also says casual reporting. Feels like it would be clearer if there was one post for reports and one post for prompts.

They sat quietly like that for a while, just staring at the fire and contemplating their whiskey, before it finally, despite his better judgement, got the better of Marcus’ curiosity as to why he had suddenly become his companions apparent favourite cushion.

“Love, love, love. Such a beautiful thing, isn’t it? And so destructive.” Bennett throws his head back, tilting it to and fro, cracking his neck. “This one,” he says, nodding to Mouse. “She’s moved on. She knows what she got herself into, letting that man give her a name. A purpose.”

Tomas turns and puts down his book and his rosary on a nearby table. Loosens his collar. Rolls up his sleeves, trying to clear his mind.

“But you,” he hears from behind, Bennett’s voice bouncing off the vast basement walls, “You’ll never stop loving Father Marcus.”

Lordy, I think I'm going to meet my 1k casual goal faster than I thought...Who knew???

Okay, I wanted to continue with my angsty fic, instead a short convo with Starry sparked an idea for a five times fic. Part one finished. Four parts to go I guess? *blinks again... I didn't see that coming. Blames it all on Starrylizard*


“To a day gone well,” she said and Tomas nodded as Mouse threw the shot back as if it was water.

“To standing in the doorway and pushing back the night,” Tomas muttered quietly under his breath and drank down the whiskey, not even trying to stop the grimace on his face. Mouse chuckled and motioned the bartender to give them another shot.

“You really want me to get drunk?” Tomas asked, half amused, half worried. He was already feeling the whiskey warming his mostly empty stomach and knew it wouldn’t take much for him to get drunk.

“Depends. Did Marcus ever manage that?”

Managed to continue what I started using a different tense from yesterday. Oops. Will need to revise things when I'm done so everything fits together.

(...Marcus would never do what the demons expected of Tomas now. Marcus would never.

That was why they had chosen him instead.

Holy crap, I don't write this sort of thing. WTF? Marcus is in happy tears and everyone is snuggling. I may be too embarrassed to actually post this anywhere. I'd feel less embarrassed if I wrote the Mouse/Tomas/Marcus pr0n I had originally thought this might be. O_O

Had a bit of a writing frenzy, but was punchy toward the end so I'll need to do a lot of revision. Replace placeholder words, etc.

Hmm.

While Tomas slept, the Buddhist monks and nuns came and went quietly, always bearing food or water or a cool cloth for Tomas’s brow. Occasionally they sat quietly and meditated nearby and somehow Tomas always seemed at his calmest when this occurred. Other than these thoughtful intrusions, they left Marcus to tend to Tomas’ needs, to pray peacefully by his side or coil in exhaustion into the blankets on the other cot in the room. He had been selfish to leave Tomas the first time – worried more about how compromised he felt than what might happen to Tomas in his absence. He wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.

I wrote three scenes today! They just kept coming one after the other, so I kept going.

A random sample from the day's brain dump:
"He sat on the table for a couple of minutes hugging himself and letting the cool air fill his lungs before letting it out. He rubbed his hands over his face, feeling the bristly hairs in his mustache and beard. He needed a shave. A shower. At least three days’ sleep. Food would probably be good, but he didn’t have the stomach for it. Not now, at least."

There was nothing left, only pain and weakness. Tomas didn't want to feel that anymore.

"Marcus!" he shouted with the last of his strength and crumpled down onto the cold floor. He was listening for the returning steps, but all he heard was laughter.

"Por favor," Tomas muttered, not sure what he was even asking for anymore.

*scuttles off to hide*

I wrote two scenes today: one was Tomarcus and very emotional, the other was just before the start of an exorcism. I even managed to add a dash of humor.

An except from today's brain dump:
Tomas stared into Marcus’ eyes for a moment, finding something that sparked a recharging inside himself. He put his hand on Marcus’ chest and touched his forehead to his friend’s.
Marcus placed his own hand over Tomas’.
“Thank you,” Tomas said, “for leaving me my boxers after you stripped my clothes off.”
Marcus laughed so hard his shoulders shook. “It was the least I could do.”

The world goes dark, and the last thing Tomas wonders is whether or not this thing--love, the very force behind God’s creations themselves and all their potential--has trapped him in hell.
