I wrote half a scene today, but I brought back Bennett! He makes his first appearance in Part 3. The scene will be a two-hander with Mouse, but the first half is basically all Bennett. Not a bad thing, I say.
Today's sample (this was harder to pick out than I thought; this exchange between Mouse and Bennett is the least spoilery):
“Uh oh. Has someone had a dressing down in the principal’s office?”
“No.”
“Conspiracy got you down?”
He shot her a side glance. “Someone’s chipper.”
“It doesn’t invalidate your sense of doom though.”
“Thank you. I appreciate that.”
She suppressed a laugh into a bright smile, barely trapping it within. Seeing how burdened he felt, she put a hand on his shoulder. “Wanna walk?”
Part of him just wanted to sit on the bench and mope, but he couldn’t bare the thought of actually doing it. So he nodded.
